Sonseca league celebrates 115 years of history

News | April 7, 2020

April 7 is not just any day for fans of the Sonseca League. It's our birthday. On a day like today from 1905 this historic club was created, initially being called Club Sonseca League Paranoias. The brothers Carlos and Alberto (both are cradles), as well as Javier Ceballos, were the supporters of their gestation. They did not imagine the great work they were building, as demonstrated by being chosen in 2000 as the Best People's Club of the 20th century.

It never came down. The Sonseca League is characterized by the black color of all its equipment and, of course, the fact of being, along with Pharatimankos and A.D. Fesios, the only team that has never tasted the misfortune of descending to the Second Division Pueblerina. Ever since the National League started in 1930 the Sonseca League has always been there, competing.

But the sonsecanos have forged their legend thanks to being the first team to win the Interpueblo Champions Cups three times, a competition in which it is hegemonic with 3 titles, almost double its immediate competitor (Shalke Temeto, 2). His 2 consecutive conquests at the start of this competition (1958-60) cemented the club's world dimension, thanks to the priceless work of Cristian Mata, in the offices, and Gil García, on the field of play. We do not forget Gabriel Ruedas, nor Alejandro, the only footballer who can boast of having won 3 Intertoto World Cups.

In these 115 years of life, the Sonseca League has managed to be a club with many supporters around the world (some 170,000 followers) and has earned a reputation that even its latest coach, Pepe Castrojo, has valued: "His players feel like a failure not winning all the titles possible in the season. There is no one better than them in these competitions ... ".

Sonseca League, happy 115th birthday!
